The saga of Flat Sally

Clippers office manager Kelly Ryther recently participated in a “Flat Sally” program with Detroit, Michigan’s Allen Academy. The students in Mrs. Massey’s 1st grade class created “Flat Sally ( a female version of the infamous “Flat Stanley”) and sent it to the Clippers. Here is Kelly’s letter to the class documenting Sally’s travels…

Dear Mrs. Massey’s Class – Thank you so much for sending Flat Sally my way.  Unfortunately when she arrived my life was a bit hectic and she was put to “sleep” for a couple of months in the drawer.  Thankfully I got her out just in time to enjoy some baseball at Huntington Park, home of the Columbus Clippers.

On May 30th Sally made the short trip from my house to the ballpark.  I handed her off to our team Historian, Joe Santry, and he took her down to the Clubhouse.  Sally got to meet our 3rd baseman, Wes Hodges.

Wes Hodges.jpgOn Friday, June 4
th, Sally was invited on the Clippers road trip to Indianapolis with our radio announcer, Scott Leo. While there she was able to rub elbows, in the dugout, with our manager, Mike Sarbaugh and she had the chance to take the field to run the bases.  But, I think the highlight of her trip was getting to watch the game from the radio booth.

HPIM1555.JPGFor most of the time Sally was in the radio booth with the Columbus Clippers Radio Announcers, Scott Leo & Ryan Mitchell.  I hear she even had a job during the night time hours…she was the “Security Guard” for the radio equipment.

I hope you enjoy the pictures AND the photo albums I have sent along.
