Leo: Columbus rallies twice in 8-7 win

Mike Sarbaugh’s young team is making a habit of playing one run games and so far, they’ve been really good at winning them. The Clippers rallied from a four run deficit to defeat Indianapolis 8-7, the third straight win to start the season.

The Clippers are 3-0 for the first time since 1997.

Columbus scored three times in the eighth and twice in the ninth to grab a 7-6 lead and set the stage for Josh Judy to earn a save. However, Judy allowed an Alex Pressley homer to tie the game, forcing extra innings.

Jerad Head scored the eventual winning run on a Lonnie Chisenhall grounder. Judy closed out the Indians in the bottom of the inning.

Jason Kipnis picked up three RBIs while Ezequiel Carrera piled up three hits and scored twice.

Alex White, Cleveland’s 2009 #1 draft pick, earned a no decision as the Columbus starter, debuting in Triple-A. White allowed two runs from three hits in five innings, striking out six.

The Clippers look to sweep the series Sunday as Zach McAllister makes his first start of the season. First pitch is scheduled for 2:05pm as Indianapolis counters with Daniel McCutchen.
