Leo: Clippers drop two in Louisville

The Clippers made a habit of winning close games in Indianapolis, but they’ll fell victim to Louisville in a similar situation. Columbus was victorious in four games by five total runs in Indianapolis, but the twin bill in Louisville was a different story. The Bats swept the Clippers 4-2 and 5-4.

Jeremy Hermida played spoiler in the opening game, producing three hits including a homer.

The Clippers led 2-0 in the second inning after Jordan Brown and Luis Valbuena each took Bats starter Tom Cochran deep. That, however, was the extent of the Clippers offense.

Columbus also led early in the nightcap after scoring three times in the first frame against Louisville starter Scott Carroll. The Bats answered with four runs, three in the seventh, to take the advantage from Clippers lefty David Huff.

The 4-4 tie was broken when Louisville catcher Devin Mesaraco blasted a walk-off homer against Josh Judy. The Clippers fall to 4-2 and trail Louisville by one game in the division standings.

Columbus will return to action Thursday with a doubleheader at Toledo. First pitch is slated for 4:00pm.
