Clippers hold on to win series opener at Gwinnett
The Clippers raced to a 6-0 lead and held on to win 7-5 over the Gwinnett Braves at Coolray Field on Tuesday.
Columbus has won six straight games.
David Huff earned the win, pitching seven innings, while Zach Putnam provided two scoreless frames to get a save.
Columbus scored three runs in the first inning and added three more in the third. Jason Kipnis’ two-run homer highlighted the offensive attack.
Chad Huffman also drove in two runs.
The Clippers and Braves meet again Wednesday at 7:05pm with lefty Scott Barnes facing G-Braves right-hander Jacob Thompson.
