Leo: Who’s Hot?!?

The temperatures dipped into the lower 30’s before Russ Canzler delivered Tuesday’s 12th inning, game-winning hit , so it’s definitely time warm up with our first installment of “Who’s Hot”:

Cord Phelps extended his on-base streak to 32 games on Tuesday, dating back to July 26th of last season. It’s the longest Clippers offensive streak since Brandon Watson set the International League hitting streak (43 games) in 2007. Phelps has batted .313 with a .371 OBP during this stretch. It’s the longest streak of his career.

Matt LaPorta is 9-for-26 with 3 HRs, tied for the IL lead with Buffalo’s Valentino Pascucci. He carries a .769 slugging percentage with 20 total bases.

Matt Pagnozzi leads the team in batting, albeit after just 8 at-bats. He provided a clutch two-RBI single in Sunday’s 7-4 win over Louisville.

Trevor Crowe only has 14 ABs so far, but he’s made the most of them (6-for-14). He is currently sixth in the league in batting (.429) and smacked a homer in Tuesday game He has 3 RBIs already.

The Hottest of All: The Clippers pitching staff has recorded 63 strikeouts in 57 innings of work, tops in the league. Columbus pitchers have combined for a 2.68 ERA with only 16 walks allowed.

The “Hometown Heroes” are 5-1, the best record in the International League, and entertain Indianapolis Wednesday at 6:35pm. Kevin Slowey will face lefty Justin Wilson.

Wednesday night will feature 50-cent wings from Roosters! Wings are available on the third floor of the Left Field Building.

It’s also a Huntington Knot Hole Kids Club game, which means all kids ages 12 and under get FREE youth general admission with a Kids Club card. Gates open at 5:30pm!
