It's official: Dice-K to the C-Bus
Daisuke Matsuzaka will start Sunday on rehab against the Clippers. He will throw about 60 pitches and/or four innings.
Matsuzaka allowed two hits, walked two, hit a batter and struck out five against Toledo in his first rehab appearance. Of his 47 pitches, 29 were strikes. He's been on the 15-day disabled list since April 15 with a mild right shoulder strain.
Matsuzaka was 0-1 with a 12.79 ERA in two starts with the Red Sox after winning the Most Valuable Player Award for Japan in the World Baseball Classic.
Dice-K comes to Huntington Park with a Japanese trainer/interpreter and I imagine many Japanese media members will also follow him to Columbus.
It's expected that Matsuzaka will hold a press conference during the game once he is done pitching and I'll post the audio here on the blog Sunday.
